Commonly referred to as Qmax, the maximum heat pipe carrying capacity usually increases as the pipe diameter increases. However, each core type can be adjusted to optimize specific performance parameters, especially for sintered cores.
Heat pipe capacity in different directions (Qmax)
When the heat pipe needs to operate in a direction between -50 and -90 degrees, the core structure can be optimized to increase the capillary pumping action. As shown in the figure below, gravimetric optimized 6mm heat pipes now have a higher power carrying capacity (Qmax) than non-optimized 6mm heat pipes to meet the needs of this application. Trade in? In the direction above -45 degrees, its Qmax is lower than that of a non-gravity optimized 6mm pipe.
